Running back from Notre Dame. It remains to be seen (as with all drafts) how well this draft will pan out. I think they made a pretty good move trading thier first rounder to Buffalo for thier number one next year, but of course that will depend on how well the Bills play this year. Hopefully, they will have a poor year so the Cowboys will have a high first rounder next year. They also picked up a couple of O-linemen, but nobody special.

Yeah...kind of hard not to be here in Dallas. They kind of force it down your throat...not that I don't want to be, but you try not to be influenced by three championships...I thought they were going to delcare a State holiday...

as a Cowboys fan, here's my observations:
1. Julius Jones was a good pick... hopefully a great pick! but, if Larry Allen hadn't vetoed the trade with Detroit, the Cowboys would've gotten Kevin Jones. 2. if the offensive linemen that they drafted are indeed "nobody special", then Dallas just wasted two draft picks. 3. there will be least 3 starters to emerge from this year's draft (1 or 2 of which will be from that "nobody special" group). 4. the 1st round pick they got from Buffalo (in the '05 draft) will turn out to be one of the best trades in the entire draft. 5. Jones & Parcells think the Cowboys are at least a year away from truly being a Super Bowl contender (see #4 above). |

the scary part about Johnson's injury is that he had to have the so-called "microfracture" procedure (where they drill a hole into the knee bone to promote the regeneration of cartilage).
translation: it's a career-threatening injury. |

Haven't checked out the sports threads in a while, so its great to see a Cowboys topic.
I hope Julius Jones will be good, and I'm trying to look at him without any fan bias. He's a good sized, pretty quick, breaks a few tackles and catches extremely well. The only problem is he fumbles, and Parcells absolutely hates fumblers. I think thats one reason he doesn't like Troy Hambrick. If he wouldn't have fumbled as much last year, I don't think they would have been looking for a RB as bad. Hopefully, Julius will be the "surprise" runningback from this years draft, ala Clinton Portis or Domanick Davis from years prior. The linemen look alright, and they're from winning teams, so you know they're talented. Sean Ryan, the TE, looks like he could contribute a little this year, but he's probably developmental. I think the only ones that will make an impact this year are Jacob Rogers, Stephen Peterman, and of course Julius Jones. Larry Allen has to get his shit straight. He's been so used to not having any discipline with the previous four coaches that he's letting the new style get to him. He's too good and too damn respected to lower himself to the level of a grumpy veteran. Last year, Jerry Jones and Parcells were really excited about Al Johnson in training camp, and then the injury bug struck AGAIN. I'm hoping he is fully rehabilitated, so the Cowboys can return to the days of having the most dominant offensive line in the NFL, not just a few stars here and there. Quincy Carter and the running game need the line to be healthy and in tune if the Cowboys are going to make it back to the Playoffs this year. I'm really looking forward to training camp and the rest of the offseason, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yeah they picked him up, and I think he's an okay possession receiver. I've never really been high on him, but he has the chance to prove me wrong this year. Fucking Galloway dropped too many passes.
