As far as I can understand MS Exchange is a IMAP server, and Thunderbird supports IMAP servers in general.
MS Exchange is also specifically included in Mozilla Mail's IMAP test procedure, but I can't find details on wether it specifically works with MS Exchange.
You could of course try it, and report back to us! I don't have access to an IMAP server so I can't check thunderbirds compatibility.
