Honestly, boyfriends come and go, but friends should be forever. I think a realistic quality for any mate should be the ability to get along with your crew. Otherwise how compatible can the two of you really be?
I would also be done with the surprise spoiler. What kind of 'friend' is more interested in her petty insecurities then your enjoyment of a surprise? Someone who is not really a friend as far as I'm concerned...
