Quick suggestion- it's possibly what mom eats. My daughter got cranky when I ate bananas, and acted picky about the taste of my milk when I ate broccoli.
My nephew who was born a month ago is lactose intolerant. When mom drinks any cow's milk he gets gassy. Have mom watch closely what foods she eats. If she has milk regularly, have her cut milk out for a couple days. Be sure she takes a vitamin suppliment because of course you don't want to deprive her of much needed calcium. But what mom eats is what baby eats. My daughter always got hiccups in the womb when I ate pineapple. My family has a lot of different food allergies and the first thing that came to my mind is to watch what mom eats and see if you can find a correlation.
My sister-in-law has stopped breastfeeding thinking that the baby was allergic to breastmilk. She has now discovered that she has had to switch to a special soy formula that is extremely expensive and they still haven't figured out what's causing the gas. She wishes she hasn't let herself dry up and just eliminated foods from her diet.
I gave a brief allergy elimination diet here. If you follow this you should find out what's bothering him pretty quickly if it's allergies or food intolerances.
