It was an OUTER LIMITS episode. The scientist creates these "Nano-bots" that are injected into a person and they repair damage or fix diseases in a person. Well the scientist's project needs funding and he decides to inject himself.
And in usual fashion, this go wrong. The nano-bots keep multiplying, they build him more ribcage muscles, gills, etc until he can't even kill himself. He has a guy give him electricity shock treatment to short-out the nano-bots, but it's gone to far and he finally dies.
