Once upon a time...

Reading a BDSM picture.

Ok, you see a woman in a leather corset, thigh high boots. Is she Dom or Sub?

You see a post on the Way Side mentioning boots in the title, do you assume you will see males or females?

What clothes does a Master wear? What about a mistess?

Is a collar all it takes to show a sub?

I'm thinking of the iconography of gender and role in bdsm pictures. I'm pretty sure that there is more to it than simple apparel, I mean that some models can show themselves very dominant in one picture, and breathtakingly helpless in another. Betty Page is a particularly fine example of this.

What do you think? Is it just a matter of getting a person and putting them in an outfit and posture for a stereotype?

Could you photograph a Dom(me) on their knees and make them look authoritative?
