Premise: Angsty teenagers go to college and turn into slightly hipper, more verbose angsty college 20-somethings. The movie tries to dramatise the darker side of college life for resident students. I don't think it goes any deeper than that, but young people in college can probably relate to at least one of the characters as a suped-up version of themselves.
Or, if you will, it's a dark "Saved by the Bell: The College Years". Or if you don't remember that show, a dark "Dawnson's Creek... The College Years". This way they can have more drugs and sex without pissing off the WB! Don't read too deep into this movie.
