If you're going to take hallucinogens, take them seriously and read up on them. They're not drugs for just having fun, but you can get a lot out of them if you have the right mindset. Having said that, you should be prepared just in case you freak out and have some Valium or some sort of related clamer downer on hand. They can chill you out pretty effectively.
