I think this is the competition thing speaking. It is hard to feel you have a chance when there are others around with the same shot. Really this is more about a lack of confidence when inebriated (which has nothing to do with a lack of confidence when sober). Don't worry about it. Have fun. If something happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't.
