I stayed at a B&B on Block Island took the ferry from Montauk. The room was real nice had a hottub built in and a deck overlooking the Atlantic. If you are living in NYC its a nice getaway for a night or 2. There are no cars allowed on the island so its pretty peaceful and you can rent bikes or mopeds.
