The sound could improve, but I would recommend using the crossover to keep the dangerous low frequencies from your stock speakers. You'll get more volume that way too, as the (probably) small stock speakers no longer have to reproduce low bass material. I personally would cut them off in the neighborhood of 80 Hz.
