It won't hurt for her to get some health insurance. I shouldn't take too long to get some.
I don't mean to plug. I just know from experience that Blue Cross Blue Shield can be reasonable in price and you can find their number on the internet. If she's young and in good health otherwise she may not even need any medical check before they'll insure her. I'm sure there's other insurance companies out there that she could check out too.
