Even if there were 13 Billion people roaming the planet, the earth produces more than enough to feed them all.
Thegrastay, I agree with you to an extent. Yes, the earth SHOULD be able to sustain that many people. However, a great deal of the people live in area's that don't have access to the Earthly Bread Baskets.
"Roughly one fifth of the World Population currently lives in the more developed regions, including Australia/New Zealand, Europe, Japan, and North America. The remaining 80 Percent live in developing Countries like Africa (13 percent), Asia and Oceania (58 Percent) and Latin American and the Caribbean (8 percent)."
Taken from the UN Population Division.
That being said, we would then have to transport food to these area's and provide it at deeply subsidized rates/ or free. Personally, I subscribe to the achronym "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for life."
Conspiracy? Maybe... Indifference to the plight of others due to lack of political interest? Definately.
