the red line is the point at which you start to risk mechanical failure the crank can only spin so fast befor the forces of gravity would destroy it thats why stock four bangers have high red lines then say a stock v8 the four banger spins less weight in its smaller crank every motor has to have one but having a high one doesnt really matter.
