Sniper Interview
A 'touchy-feelie' CNN reporter, while interviewing a Marine sniper, asked, "What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist?"
The Marine shrugged and replied, "Recoil." |
Yeah I'm totally going to hell for outright laughing at this. God I love being a Marine, some of the things we say. I'm not taking pleasure of him killing someone, but hey if he felt bad about killing the bad guys then he might not have become a sniper.

LMAO
Terrific answer! - I'm gonna remember that one. Someone ought to explain to these reporters that the ability to relentlessly ponder about personal feelings is a personal luxury. That should be obvious to anyone with even the slightest understanding of duty. So sad. |
tee-hee.
 |
I have heard this before, and while I think it's fucking hilarious, I don't think it's real. I could find no evidence of such an interview when I searched.
Still, it's funny as hell. Gotta love Marines! |
why wouldn't it be real? most marines in a combat MOS wouldn't be there if they couldn't get rid of feelings of remorse over dealing death. Personally, he must have been holding the weapon too loosely if he was feeling that much recoil. =)
|
Umm, I said why in my previous post.
And your statement not always true. I know many Marines who have been to Iraq and killed people and they sure as hell don't feel nothing about it. Most Marines pick/are assigned their MOS before they've ever killed anyone, so to say that they only are in combat arms MOS' because they know they will have no remorse over killing someone is bullshit. |
Having been a marine for 6 years, I know that marines in the infantry don't last long if the prospect of actual combat comes about. In light of that, certain MOS fields, like the sniper, go in to it KNOWING that they will be dealing death on an order and don't feel remorseful about it. It comes with the territory.

Yeah you're right. Right after I posted I got to thinking about someone wanting to be a sniper. Takes a certain type of person to do that job I think. I've only met one or two snipers, but neither of them had any kills though.
But as far as the OP goes, I searched online and could find no record of any such interview. While I do think it is certainly possible, especially from a Marine, I could find no record of it being real. |
Dudes, it was certainly a joke.
Please stop trying to find the interview in a reputable news source. The same reason I posted it in Tilted Humour as well. I got it from a friend via e-mail. Credibility has left the building. As for snipers and their feelings towards killing goes, I would recommend the book "On Killing" by David Grossman. |
When I read it somewhere else the person who posted it passed it off like it was a real interview, that's why I tried to find it.
|
SOmething tells me even if this was a real interview, it would never make he air waves. it's still freaking funny.
|
|
AHHHH I could see some of my friends doing something like this while we were in Iraq. I love being and other Marines. Always good for a laugh if the humors right.
