Seems like the best forum for hunting topics. So... ~Ohio Hunting~
Anyone else out there an Ohio hunter? I'm just kinda curious about how things are goin in other necks of the ohio woods! and fields!
I'm quite an avid ohio hunter, I hunt whitetails, turkey, groundhog, crow, dove, and this year I'm hoping to bag a fox and a coyote, them's tough around where I'm at though. |
I didn't know anyone actually hunted crows, is that normal? Or is it more like a pest thing the way some "hunt" prairie dogs?

crows are a very challenging quarry, at least when hunted with a rifle. www.crowbusters.com theres videos of guys making 300 yard shots with .270's on there. and killing crows does a lot of good for the duck population, and helps prevent the destruction of various crops. |
What ziadel said.
Crows are predators. They kill other birds, as well as destroy crops. I hunt them with a 22-250, or we'll shotgun em when the flocks come in as well. |
Crow hunting helps the farmers. Its like repayment for them letting us hunt everthing else on there land. We kill the crows to help them out. And i must say its very enjobable on days when there is alot of crows.
About the funnest thing there is to hunt in ohio if u ask me if turkey. Even know so far i havent baged a turkey. I have went 3 years and never got one yet. I aint that good at it. Dove is Good eating and on a good dove year you dont put the gun down cuz you are shooting ever 3 seconds. And ohh Course nothing beats whitetail. And Menoman you know im a ohio hunter seeing how me and you was out hunting about 3 days ago for some hogs ~~! |
Interesting, and sounds fun.

I'm going to go deer hunting for the first time this year. I've gone for rabbit before, long ago. My neighbor is trying to get me to do more, only time permitting though.

While not from Ohio, I do like hunting threads.
I head up North in four days for our annual two weeks of moose hunting. Bear are open and I have a tag, but I'll wait till I have a moose before going after a bear. I've never hunted turkey or crow, but I have gone after duck and geese with a fair amount of success (it's nice when your neighbor is an avid bird hunter). I've tried elk hunting a few times, but have yet to shoot one, I have both whitetail and mule deer in my freezer as I type. Good luck this season everyone. |
Crows are smart. The bastards see you coming across the paddock with a rifle and take to the air.
If only you could come out here to Oz, Menoman, my brother rang me a couple of weeks ago and told me to come up to the farm. He said there's so many foxes running around out there that he has to kick them out of the way as he walks across the paddock. Pigs too! |
I'm an Ohio hunter, but I haven't been able to go much the past couple years because I've been in college. But now I'm graduated and looking forward to gettin back out there. I went groundhog hunting a month or so ago, and I hope to be able to go deer hunting this season.

That's a hunting thread in the outdoors forum. Which would make more sense, because weaponary is the least important aspect of hunting.
