Looking for rapier blades
I'm wondering if anyone has a good resource for schlager type rapier blades, or any other suitable blades that are or could be SCA approved (yes, I'm one of those geeks) :)
Also, full swords are always fun and I'd love some personal opinions of any good lightweight fighting hilts that ya'll are fond of. |
check with your kingdoms marshalls- they should know some good suppliers- In general, part of that caveat stems from the fact that what the SCA, sport fencers and historical fencers call schlagers are three different things....... the original schlager blade was sharp, but only at the tip and was used to produce those wonderfull dueling scars that were so popular in germany around the turn of the last century- now however its the generic term for a "safer " blade that is not just an epee blade- Personally, I like the light rapier with the schlager blade that paul chen's Hanwei forge makes- have had a few guys from one of the ren faires that I work buy a few for stage use, and they love em.......

Thanks for the history Fire :) I'd have never thought to even look it up! As for my kingdom rapier marshal I'm just going to bite my tounge and say that there's a reason I'm using TFP to look for suppliers *mutters under his breath about worthless people taking undeserved positions for political reasons* hmm? Oh. . . sorry about that, onward!
