oh dear god please make it so!

I hope they dump the silly M9, and even more so I hope they restore the 1911... but the odds of that happening are slim to none... but as long as they ditch the 9 I'll feel better, if they switch back to .45 I'll be ecstatic, but odds are they'll prolly start investigating the .40 fuck NATO, let's go back to .45's in handguns, and .308's in long guns

I doubt they'll ever switch back to 7.62mm long guns, although they are really badass. They'll just keep inventing more and more new calibres to keep the military contracts coming. As far as pistol rounds go, I'm surprised they haven't mentioned the 5.7mm. I hear it's got pretty respectable ballistics.

the FN Five Seven would solve the body armor problem, but in hardball form, your gonna put a 5.7mm hole in your target...
that doesnt reassure me very much

Hah yeah. The saving grace I hear though is that (not sure on the accuracy of this info) the 5.7mm round tumbles inside the target, much like the 5.56mm. It wouldn't cause issues as it does with the 5.56m because it is a pistol round, and not designed for use past 250m (which is where the 5.56mm stabilizes and loses its improved cavitation abilities).

that still doesnt reassure me very much and the hydro-static shock crap is just that, crap, gimme something fool-proof, like a big ass hole in another human being, thats all I really wanna hear about. Its so stupid, the Army had the PERFECT balance between stopping power and controlability and they threw it all away, why? because the damn europeans wanna shoot small, light, and fast projectiles... to paraphrase Jeff Cooper, "It's different in American than it is in Europe, in America, if you shoot a criminal, he starts shooting back, in Europe if you shoot a criminal, he'll sit down on the curb and start crying" we need something with some more balls. we need to put more time into training the soldiers who actually NEED pistols (most do not)
