I will take my 6' Pole Axe solid tempered steel and cuts through near anything. Thank you Ren Fair!
Armor, I would go with leather with a breast plate. A Normon half helm for top armor and bracers/grieves round out the rest. Possibly some kick ass iron shod boots for stepping on the wounded. Backup weapon would be my 5' hand and a half forged by the same weaponsmith. Its a pretty good cleaver. Backup would be a nice sharp mercy dagger. Alternate weapon would be a two handed mace, still have to pick one of those up. The main reason for my weapon choices is historical and size. The Poleaxe owned the battlefield in much of Europe. Being 6'5" around 265 I can put a lot of force into the swings, enough to cut through a metal reinforced shield easily. Bastard sword follows the same reasoning. I am exploiting my size/reach to its fullest but still keeping a heavy blade. As to armor its all about mobility. I have tried heavy armor and the lack of mobility and vision would drive me crazy. I would rather parry/dodge than never to see the hit coming. |
