Here are some more real guns:

An AR15 in powder blue:

Another one in DeWalt yellow (note the DeWalt sticker)

(*edit to add proper credit: That's the famous/imfamous "EricTheHun" over at AR15.com...20,000(!) posts and counting...)

But I really wanted to find a picture of one in pink.

No luck, so you'll have to use your imagination while looking at this furniture from

www.cavalryarms.com

Man, I love that Dewalt yellow AR. I'm not as sure about the blue and pink, those looked a bit sissified. I've never fired an AK, but I love AR's and if you ever have a question about one, you won't find more information anywhere than AR15.com That site will blow you away.

It's only dangerous if you assume it's not a real weapon because it's not black.

Umm,

And if you saw it in evil black you would know it's dangerous?

It is always the responsibility of the gun owner to make sure his/her weapon is safely stored, regardless of it's color...

Cobalt, that pic of Kalishnikov and Stoner is awesome. Sadly, I found myself looking at it wondering who that guy was beside Kalishnikov (I hadn't read the caption). Then I figured it must be Stoner as the General is holding an AR-15. Wierd that I would recognize Kalishnikov and not Stoner.

damn man, I think the fact that the big 100rd mag clips to the barrel is a keeper option, thats just hilarious...

The round mags always remind me of a Tommy Gun from Dick Tracy or sommat, but that big long mag means business....

Lebell, I get the sense that you have a solid understanding of how to inculcate gun saftey to a kid, and, while I don't, I do know that it can be done (because I have know how to handle a gun safely since I was old enough to lift one, thanks to Dad & Grandpa). So to you, the color of a gun is a non issue, because a kid in your control is going to know how to use it safely regardless. To folks who didn't grow up with guns (or teach themselves later), it's not so obvious. Pink and powder blue are just not threatening colors. They're toy colors.

My suggestion to folks who would ask the question, though, is not to buy a pink gun. My solution is to not keep a gun in the house, but I never could hit anything anyway (right handed, left eye'ed).

Hmm,

I have an AR15 in black, and when a friend of mine saw it for the first time he said, and I quote, "It looks like a toy".

Color doesn't matter.

To a child, black is just another color, like pink or blue.

What matters is proper safety, which is the responsibility of the gun owner.

And who is this McFly person you speak of?

Yes but surely a the brighter the colour the more attractive it will be for a child?

But how can you assure the responsibility of a gun owner?
Say you had a child that went to stay at a friends house, and they managed to access one of those guns. You may be responsible but another gun owner might not be.

That is the problem how can you be sure every gun owner is responsible especially in a country such as America. After all every gun has the potential to kill.

I hope this post made sense

cool, glad i inspired you to write that

But can you not see how a child is more likely to pick up and play with a funky coloured gun? Fair enough own a gun, shoot a gun and enjoy your gun but making it more appealing for children is increasing the chance that something could happen just for its aesthetic(sp?) value.

More likely?

No, I can't see that. And please take this to politics and I'll be happy to discuss it more with you!

Yeah, those bright colored ones are going to get kids into trouble more because they look more attractive. Nevermind the black ones they see being used on TV and in movies all the time. That's what they would want to emulate.

Now over to the politics board for more of this discussion.

You'd be amazed at some of the custom paint jobs I've seen on both highpower and smallbore rifles at all of the competitions I've been to, those you see pictured are just the tip of the iceberg, and every person I know with a custom pj on their firearm is MORE than capable of handling it. This includes people I know as young as 9 years of age.
