BEST. KNIFE. EVER.
Ok- so there are a whole lot of knife/sword lovers on this forum- and since we already have had the favorite sword thread, I would like to start the best knife ever thread- what is your favorite knife, and why? this can be anything from a pocket knife to a fighter, so long as its got an edge and isn't a sword
For me, its whatever one I am in love with at the moment- I realy don't have an alltime favorite- in my top 10 though are my swiss army knife, my Spydercard, and my buck mini knighthawk |
Glock model 81.
Tough as nails, great balance, holds a super edge, and it is cheap enough that you don't care when lose one in the field. The bottle opener is just iceing on the cake... |
The knife I have liked the most over the years is a Cold Steel fixed blade tanto. My dad owns one and we have been stealing it back from one another for quite a few years. What he doesnt realize is that one day it will be all MINE!!!

My Herndon custom damascus bowie:

That Bowie is gorgeous!
My favorite knife is a fixed-blade hunting knife I inherited from my grandfather. He used it for some many years that any manufacturers marks are long worn off. It's not the prettiest knife, nor the most feature-heavy, but it is sharp, tough, comfortable, and has a lot of sentimental value. |
Standard issue K-bar.
|
My favorite is my Dalton M6 Tanto. It is an out-the-front (OTF) auto. If you are a fan of auto folders, Daltons are the absolute best. The only bad thing is that buying them is extremely addictive and they are rather expensive. (I know guys with collections of over 200 Daltons).
Go here if you want to see a collection of just about every Dalton ever produced: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/km4yk/Dalton.html |
For an everyday folder I'll have to go with the Spyderco Endura. I've had one for about ten years now. I've bought other more expensive knives, but I always come back to the Spyderco for everyday use. It never goes dull and the serrated edge will cut through just about anything. They're pretty cheap now too.

Heh, my favorite knives are probably the ones made my Wilson Combat - Bill Wilson's son makes them. They cost a pretty penny, but are supposed to be top of the notch.

im2smrt4u wow that is beautiful

That Damascus steel Bowie,
SWEEEEEET I have a Case Shark Tooth, XXX, stag handle, and I've worked on honing that edge for over 20 years, and it will cut you by just looking at it. |
im2smrt4u, where did you get it?

that is one tasty machete!
i'd say the best knife ever is the swiss army knife military issue (the proper victorinex one), such a wonderful little beauty to have on long survival trips... |
how about a knife, tied to a long stick, attached to a gun.
Now THAT would be the best knife ever! ;oP |
i love bowies!
|
FYI, I got the bowie appraised on Saturday. $1400. :D
|
If you can find an old Gerber LMF they are among the best production knives ever made and combat tested... if you got the money you can get a custom made but we are all real people and 1400 for a knife is a little out in left field ..don't forget you don't want to be afraid of using your gem of a knife
|
I love my Emerson Wave tanto knive (titanium liner, G10 handle, and high carbon blade)
|
Hey, debaser:
Any chance you have a pic of that Glock? I'd like to see it! |
I'm really happy with my CRKT Sampson's kiss half serrated tanto. Only problem is it can get a lot of dirt in it, but it's also a 5 minute job cleaning it, so I can deal!
|
Anything made by Marbles....If your into hunting knives that is!
|
best knife: swiss army knife. i own 2.
|
I'm a BIG fan of the katar. There is something about adding 8 inches of steel to you fist that just really appeals to me. That, and the fact that you can punch a hole through a car door without hurting the blade if you got a good one. They are just so freaking beautiful it makes me want to cry.

The "hook" on the guard is a bottle opener (the Austrians have their priorities straight...) |
Spyderco. I use it for everything, and beat the hell out of it, yet its still around.
|
Of these three knives, which would you guys say is the best?

That depends on what it will be used for. The Buck/Stider will stand up to the most abuse.
|
Well, serious camping. Fishing. General utility.
I wanna thank you and the others from that Carbon Steel thread. I didn't know any of that before that thread and I used it when I was researching and weighing pros and cons over the past week. |
Everyone knows the Glock knife has to have a root saw...LOL.
