Pistol Grip Shotgun
I would like to buy one, or buy a shot gun, and have it converted to one.
Basically, the gun from the last scene of boondock saints, :D. Has a pistol grip handle, and one for the pump...looks rather bad ass, any gauge, doesnt really matter to me. Nor does the brand. Any info would be quite nice on the price range, and on how to make one. TIA!!! |
There are all sorts of regulations as to the length of a shotgun, and pistol grips aren't looked upon too kindly, either.
Good luck making a <i>legal</i> one. Unless, of course, that doesnt matter to you. |
Doesnt matter in the slightest..
|
Remington 870, I believe. Pistol grips aren't that hard to find. Some of them here: http://www.atigunstocks.com/remington.html
Now sawing the shotgun down is beyond my knowledge. |
You sir, are a god. Thank you kindly for that link. :)

Sorry, dude. You can make a shotgun -similar- to that, but that jobbie had a 14-inch barrel. To get a short shotgun, you have to pay a 200.000 tax and go through insane amnts of paperwork with the ATFE and FBI. If you procure or build one illegally, and they catch you, it's 10-25 years, plus they confiscate everything you own.
Now, if that doesn't bother you, go ahead. But the FedGoons looooove catching some white boy with rich parents...more for them to grab, don't'cha know. Just some food for thought. |
Im in Arizona and a buddy of mine has a shotgun with pistol grips. Its completely legal here. You just have to watch out for barrel length. Anything under 18" is illegal without a permit. Having pistol grips on your shotgun is definatly fun, and it looks cool, but cant go hunting birds with it very well. Pistol grips dont really give you a chance to aim all that well.

I just want it for looks, :).
But i want to keep it legal, 18'' is good for me. :) |
check out cabelas they have both grips (rear and fore end) plus a side saddle shell caddy. As has been said before, check the legality of it, and make sure you get a tactical sling for it.
The tactical sling is so it is possible to shoot, otherwise you will damn near throw out a shoulder. |
It IS a damn good looking gun, I just don't really see a need to buy one. I'm against gun control but I'm also against guns.
|
Sounds like you want a riot gun. They are legal and not too expensive either. My father just bought a Mossberg with pistol grips on it. He attached a laser sight and flash light to it. It's his home defense gun. :)

I believe putting a pistol grip on a short barreled shotgun makes it an AOW under the NFA, instead of a SBR. AOW tax stamp is only $5. Still have to do the paperwork and 3 month wait though... |

The psychological effect has to be just awesome, though. My father uses a similar rig for his home defense weapon. He put some rounds through it recently, and vowed that the next time he pulled that trigger, someone else had better be on the other end of the barrel. He complained that his hand hurt for a week. His fault for putting slugs through it though.... Veritas en Lux! Jimmy The Hutt |
Debaser:
As long as the overall length isn't below 26 inches, you're still legal. Barrel's gotta be '18, OAL '26. If the OAL is below '26, you're right, it's an AOW with the 5$ stamp. It's the short barrel itself that makes it a Class III. |
$5 stamp, what a crock...

http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...0&pagenumber=2 and just a friendly FYI, if you are thinking of making a political statement regarding guns, please review the rules of the forum and then head over to "Politics". If however, you have something to share regarding gun ownership, please feel free :D |
Lebell, I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that Boardslut was quoting a line from "Snatch". No politics, just humour.
|
Oh.
Haven't seen it. If so, hahaha :D |

yall be carefull here... the diffrence between a $5 stamp <AOW>and a $200 <SBR>is that the AOW can NEVER have a stock on it. nor must a shoulder stock EVER of been attached to it in othres words for the $5 stamp you will need a virgin rec. the $200 <short barreled rifle> CAN have a stock and anything under 18" for a bbl. example: 1. you want a pistol grip on the Mossy you got at walmart. and a bbl unfer 18" <that came with a stock> ... this will be a SBR and a $200 tax. 2.you order a virgin rec .. then its a $5 tax. <AOW> . 3. you simply wanna add a pistol grip to your shotgun and the BBL length is over 18" .. simply unscrew the stock , attach the grip .. presto. 4. get stupid and wanna saw a bbl below 18" without a form 1. and a tax paid stamp.. go to jail. if im wroung im sure someone will correct me :D |
^Coo, so it looks like my gun is good to go :)
|
I bought a Maverick (made my mossberg) for home defense that came with regular and pistol grip for home defense. My thinking was that it would be easier to aim over my balcony ( I guess mentally I consider the 2nd floor my bastion as it is where all the bedrooms are). After firing the weapon with the pistol grip I found it very akward (I am not a puny dude either) and switched it back.

You've not seen "Snatch", Lebell? Wow, rent it. It's funny as hell.
