shot a gun for the first time yesterday

so i went to an indoor shooting range yesterday with a buddy of mine. it was a pretty interesting experiance. i wouldn't quite say i "liked" it, but i definatly did not dislike it. i think if maybe it had been cheaper i would have liked it more, but for the price i guess it just seemed to go too quick. it's kinda funny, when we first walked into the firing line area, even with the ear muffles on, everytime someone shot it was startling. then once i shot, i stopped noticing the noise from the others.

definatly a cool experiance, thought i'd share.

Shooting can be great fun. If cost is a major concern, get a .22 rimfire handgun. You can shoot all day for pennies and it can be a lot of fun. We used to take silhouette targets to the range (practice targets that have silhouettes from rifle competition printed on them, warthog, turkey, etc), and have informal shooting contests. Whoever got the most hit in a certain time had lunch bought for them by the rest. That sort of thing. With .22's it's much easier on the pocket.

Skeet shooting is a blast! (no pun intended) Probably my favorite thing to do with a firearm. :P

Skeets fun...I have a lot of fun with a .22. Cheap, easy, honest fun. Bigger calibers are fun, but not necesary to just kill a sunday afternoon.

Damn! I just hate the ihigh prices on ammunition here in denmark. 40 rounds of 6,5*55 FMJ Norma Goldentarget, will easily cost me something like 11 dollars. .22 is quite a lot cheaper thoug... depending on the manufacturer and quality. 50 rounds for 3.67dollar... that's at least more acceptable, but it's only half an hour of targetting. :/

yeah, the skeet shooting is fun. and it's relatively cheap. $3.00 for a box of 25 rounds, and at the shooting range, $5.00 for a round of 25 skeet. i'll shoot 2 or 3 rounds, so $16, or $24 bucks. and it can last around an hour depending on how busy the range is. good times!

I've just got into going to the shooting range, and yeah, the big guns can be fun (was shooting a 44 magnum today) but the bullets are expensive, and you go through them pretty fast (seeing as loading a revolver is a lot quicker than loading a magazine).

Next time I am going to shoot a 22 or a 9mm or something smaller.

me and a friend went shooting his dads guns a few weeks ago.

had a ruger 9 mill, h&k .45, and a sks .722

lots of fun, shot full cans of diet soda (hehe, always hated diet soda)

but we forgot to bring earplugs, so our ears were ringing for days afterwards....

word from the wise: always wear earplugs

If you just want to shoot at targets and have fun, try out a .22 rifle. They are much more accurate and easy to shoot than a pistol, and around here (Texas) you can get 550 rounds for under 10 bucks. My girlfriend and I like to take it to the range and shoot the metal silhouettes. The PING! you get when you hit one is very satisfying.

I like to shoot clay skeets too but I only have a 12 gauge and it's a little much for repetitive shots (Range doesn't allow rifles on the skeet range.)
