i dont really know much about guns, but i'd either want a sensible hand gun/pistol or an awesome rifle

Only one huh? 12 gauge pump with a couple of different barrels. Double OO buck as a street sweeper, slugs for deer, a round for nearly anything up to elk. No automatics. They jam just often enough to get you offed.

SPAS-12 and a good bolt action rifle with a scope. Probably a berreta for the handgun. In ITEOTW situation you want something that has widely used ammo.
Btw, anyone here play Fallout or Fallout 2? Awesome ITEOFTW game, post-nuclear-apocolypse style. Lotsa ammo and military guns floating around in it though. |

I own an AK-47- bought it as I am relatively new to guns- Its quite forgiving and will handle everything from hunting to burglars. barring that I agree w/ the 12 gauge and the 10/22 ( in fact those are my next purchases)

It really depends. For versatility and reliability the M1A Bush rifle comes to mind.

As a hunter, I agree with the rest. A shotgun (rem 870) Good for Hunting small game, Big game, & Home defense! What else do you need. Hey, you can even have loads of fun relatively cheap shooting clays. What are you waiting for....Go buy it!
