I'm confused.

The "rules of the game" thread says:

"Civil discussion of weapon related controversial topics is also welcome."

yet when those controversial topics are raised they're immediately moved to the politics forum. Why?

Because gun control is a political issue. We changed our minds.

Yeah, but 'why carry' is a personal issue that gun owners need to discuss in order to make an informed decision about whether/when to carry. If politics pokes it's head into the issue, it's just because it's an explosive subject.

---Also, I only posted to it because I thought I was posting in a pro-gun forum, rather than announcing the fact that I carry concealed to everyone on tfp.

The problem with discussing weaponry issues amongst non-weapon-knowledgeable people is that you get a lot of uninformed opinions that ruin a good discussion. I just don't see where the problem is if we have a reasoned and mature discussion/debate about weaponry issues. After all, I've seen some "political" topics in other forums here that have not been moved - - - old drivers in the motors forum, etc. . . .What's the difference?

Any time people start discussing the politics of guns, even if it's intended to be civil, it ends up as a heated debate or on the verge of a flamewar. This board is dedicated to weapon enthusiasts and people who want to learn more about the topic. A debate on elderly drivers can consume a post, but a debate on gun rights can and will consume this entire forum.
