Post your favorite handgun!

For me it's the Glock 21. It's a .45 so it packs a nice punch, it's automatic, and it just feels good in my hand.

The Glock 21. But I'd also love to have a .44 Desert Eagle or .44 Automag, because they're cool like that.

Pistole Modell 1908 (Luger). Classic, poweful, creative and extremely easy to tell from other handguns. I would post a picture but I dont know how to.

Glock 31

Same pic as Peetster pretty much, except it's chambered for .357 sig. .357 sig, for those who don't know is fairly similar to the .357 magnum of great fame. It's not quite the same, but packs the same punch.
Quite a bit more punch then the .45 ;-) it depends what ammo you use though.
http://www.pmcammo.com/handgun/handgun_ballistics.html
500 foot pounds of force on impact.
It doesn't feel like it though because the actual mass/velocity relationship is real nice.
Glocks also just grow on you after a while.

We'd all love to own one of the new desert eagles, you can buy one frame that supports all 3 DE calibers for 3.6k
(.50 AE, .44 Magnum, .357 Magnum)

Is this forum new? I don't remember seeing it in the past.

Glock 17. I like the 17L also, but it is cumbersome to carry.

This is my carry gun, and I absolutely love it.

I go to the range at least once a week and have put probably 3000-5000 rounds through it. I have shot all kinds of ammuniition (mostly whatever is cheapest) including lead, and have not had a single misfire, jam, or failure of any kind.

It is just small enough that I can conceal it during the summer (I am pretty skinny), but it is large enough to enjoy shooting at the range.

Cobalt_60 07-31-2003 09:07 PM

My favorite is the Colt 1911. Or as the one I own, the Colt 1991. Beautiful handguns. And parts are very plentiful. Very customizable.

I don't doubt you, but I have enough trouble concealing my usp compact. How on earth are you able to conceal a MK24? Or is it a car gun or something?

you've ovbiously never shot one.

you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with that the the recoil is redicoulous to the point of lunacy. I don't care if the handel has sorbathane or whatever its to much of a gun for 90% of shooters out there the guys out there that could fire a gun like that don't need a gun they can just tear a person or an animal limb from limb with there bare hands :D

I use a ruger mark1 for target practice on the range and find it very accurate over 25meters with rapid fire, but carry a clock19 at work(security)Plenty of stopping power.

hrdwareguy 08-01-2003 12:43 PM

My favorite so far

This here is what I carry:

http://www.ruger.com/Firearms/images/Products/8145H.gif

I bought it used, had to replace the magazine lock. Also replace the grips with Hogue grips, put new front sites on, and added a heavy duty recoil spring/rod.

Zooksport2 08-01-2003 01:00 PM

Just finished a comp at my club.
I used a Colt Trooper MkIII in 357. 6 inch barrell.
Best group: (6 shots) 2.9" from 20 meters. Free standing, timed shoot. Not world standard, but I won the day.
(BSA red dot attached)

Also have a couple of .22 plinkers. Browning and a beretta

Um, you've shot one? The recoil is entirely manageable. The weight of the gun, especially with the bull barrel, helps tame the sharpness of the recoil, leaving only a strong push/rise. I've personally fired guns like this (Ruger Super Blackhawk, Ruger Redhawk) one-handed with zero problems.

It is all in how you holw it and not being afraid of it. .44 Magnums are quite easy to shoot and highly accurrate if you know what you are doing.

Moonduck 08-01-2003 03:01 PM

Oh, favorite handgun is S&W M-686. The one I have was given to me when I was about 12 by my grandparents on my Dad's side. They're both long gone, so the revolver has even more sentimental value. It also helps that it is dead accurrate and entirely reliable.

Favorite auto would be Glock 19. Handy, light, comfortable, shoots good.

The recoil from a .44 magnum revolver isn't that bad. Leaves a bit of a sting in the palm after a few shots but it's very manageable, unless you have weak arms.

this is my bad boy, but in black. i had the .357 interchangeable barrel, but i gave that to my buddy so now it's only a .40 S&W. looking to get the sights tipped with that radioactive element so it glows in the dark (can't spell that trachi- word)

my buddy has a Kimber, lucky bastard

NeverBorn 08-01-2003 10:54 PM

too lazy to find pic, the greatest magnum.

The 50 cal Desert Eagle, come on a DE just reeks of coolness. Although a good glock is practically indestructable.

Early H 08-01-2003 11:06 PM

I own several different handguns so its hard to pick my favorite. But here are my top three:
#1 a Colt .357 King Cobra revolver made of shining stainless steel with a 6'' snub nose barrel,
#2 Springfield 45 model 1911 with a packmayr grip, much like the one pictured earlier by the Lunatic,
#3 a Smith & Wesson 9mm model 5903 with high capacity magazines.

lemming 08-02-2003 01:02 AM

favorite weapon..colt .45 accurate and great stopping power, which those 9mm lack severly, if ya want just straight blow your head off power? .454 the new most powerful hand gun, but the recoil on those is a bit much to make it practical=)

Moonduck 08-02-2003 10:50 AM

6" snub-nose? Aroo?

Exodus 08-02-2003 03:52 PM

I have always been partial to the Glock 17/17C. But I found a new one I like as well. The USP Tactical/USP MK 23. Wonderful recoil and very lightweight.

j8ear 08-02-2003 09:43 PM

m1911a1. Best semiauto man killing weapon ever made. 45-50k rounds routinely. Ask any armourer and they will tell you they have never seen anything hold up like one. Few make them like they used to. Avoid weapons actually manufactured during a conflict (i.e. ww1, ww2, kor, Viet), as a lot of corners were cut 'for the war effort.'

I have an old one (korean war era) made by the Singer sewing machine company. She doesn't see much action.

My current range/IDPA/bedside table gun is a little s&w sigma in nine. Appropriately placed double taps with this beauty land on target and effectively difuse situations. I trust it for points and home defense. Walmart sells boxes of 100 for $17.99. She has probably 5500 bullets through the muzzle, and is starting to show pitting and maring on the barrel and slides. I don't suspect I'll trust it all that much come 10000 rounds.

My next piece will be a Sig-Sauer. Haven't decided on caliber or config but I believe Sig makes the finest semi auto weapons going right now. Every one I've fired was fluid and accurate.

Alot to be said for a good old fashioned Smith and Wesson 'Highway Patrolmen' 357 magnum, 4 inch revolver. Six shots requires skill and a sure hand, though.

That's my personal open-carry gun. It's not as light as a Glock nor does it carry as much ammo, but I use a preban with the 15 round mags. It works just fine and is as reliable as hell.

For conceled I generally prefer the Glock 26. Its another nice 9mm that accepts mags from the 17 and 19 for extra ammo capacity when you need it, provided you can get your hands on the preban mags.

Years ago I had a wheel-gun made for me that was called a ' Smython '. It's a S&W M686- L-Frame with a 4 in Colt Python Bbl.
I had the action done at ' Actions by T ' out of Texas . With the proper hand-loads this gun in .357/.38 Cal. would out-shoot target guns of twice it's cost up too 50 yards . After 2000 rounds plus through this pistol the lock-up is still tight and it is still as highly accurate as the day I bought it . Plus it brings ' Oohs and Awes 'at the range for it is 1/4 engraved with a high polish . If any pistol's in my collection ( I was a Hobby/Dealer for 9 years )were an extension of my penis ... it would be this one .;)

KwKouki 08-04-2003 10:00 PM

I own a baretta 92f, its what I first shot and am most comfortable with. I want to switch to an H&k usp 40

But the one gun I think is the top dawg would be
