Made a Thingy to keep my magazines upright in my rear pocket
I made something to compliment my front pocket CCW habit:
This is just hot-glued together proof-of-concept, but works exactly like I want. I will use it in my weak-hand rear pocket, not my front pocket, but it's a lot harder to take a picture of your own butt than your front pocket, so just pretend--you get the idea. I'm going to make another one more carefully, drill the hole so I can still disassemble the magazine, and epoxy it on. When the magazine is in the gun, there is just barely a gap--you can't really tell from the pictures but it is almost perfectly flush with the grip...if I'm touching it at all, and my regular grip barely does, it just feels like the magazine flares out slightly. Also, it doesn't interfere with inserting it--the pistol grip is just as wide as the base plate. I'm definitely going to make a more refined version of this, it's probably one of my favorite ideas ever to compliment my usual pocket carry. No more uncomfortable funny-angle mag poking me in the ass!

good idea. i suggest toture testing it. I added a +2 glock mag extender for my pocket mag, it fell on the ground outside and popped off, rounds flying all over. I since went to factory floorplates.
I havent tried modding parts since that ordeal. in fact, I only have one mag for my PPS 9 . suppose I can use it as a club after 7rds. |

I like it! A lot. Nicely done.
Daniel, I can only speak for myself, but the idea of carrying a firearm and having an extra magazine would fall into the category of "Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it." God forbid I ever find myself in the situation where I actually end up using a firearm in a self defense type situation, but if it ever comes down to that, I would prefer that the firearm functions properly. Sometimes they do not. Many issues are magazine related. Having a second or third magazine available is not necessarily about the amount of rounds of ammunition one can carry on their person as much as it is about having a backup plan, and a secondary backup plan, in a worst case scenario. And sometimes it just boils down to a matter of "because I can." *joking* Besides, we all know those goddamn zombies aren't going to kill themselves

Also, the only way to clear a doublefeed malfunction is to remove the magazine, and if I'm moving and adrenaline-pumped, I don't want to be my life that I won't drop it while I'm clearing the jam...much better to be able to grab the backup mag. Although, if I'm carrying a revolver, I generally pocket at least one speedloader for a total of 10 rounds, so I guess it is KIND OF about capacity. But I don't grab two.
