Federal/American Eagle .45 Recall
 

So what's the dumbest thing you can do if you have any of this stuff? Use it. I've had experience with recalls, from food to sprinkler heads to car parts, and you know what they all have in common? That they're being recalled because they're fucking dangerous.

Any of you chuckleheads that knowing use this stuff after seeing this, just know that I'm standing over your shoulder in spirit, waiting for it to blow up in your hand so I can point and laugh.

Seems like a really harsh response.. I'm thinking no gun owner in his right mind uses recalled ammunition knowingly.. recall of a crib is one thing, but safe gun owners take this pretty seriously..

Perhaps. But here's a little fact that maybe makes it less so - less than 50% of all recalled products are recovered. Part of that is failure to notify end users - the ammo company has no good way to directly contact the shooters. There are wholesale distributors and retail shops in between them. It's also very expensive - educated guess is that this is costing Federal a minimum of $500,000 at this point, and there isn't any impact on the brand yet. This could cost them millions.

Then there are folks that hear about it and forget. And those that disregard it, either by forgetting about the recall (because they were notified at the store and didn't get the lot numbers at home) or just decide that they'll be fine. After all, they ate spinach and tomatos after those were recalled and suffered no ill effects!

Recalls are a Big Deal. So if you think I'm too harsh, I'm probably not being harsh enough. I was aiming for "flaming asshole" since I realize how serious this really is.

As far as the ammo, looks like somebody may have fucked up a decimal point somewhere.
