Finally: AK Sights Better Than Makarov
For those of you that shoot AK variants, this sight totally give me a warm and fuzzy.
It looks like it almost doubles the sight radius and the AR-style apertures are comforting. Really reminds me of the Daniel Defense A1.5 rear sight I've got on my M4 clone. I'm going to spring for this and see how well it improves my AK groups. Sights hook onto the spring mechanism and comes with the modded dust cover. Looks like you could mount optics using the standard side rail as well. |
Hmm, now this looks neat...I've always attributed the AK's alleged accuracy problems more to the round and the sights than the weapon itself, this could really tighten things up. Wonder how it'd do with something in 5.45mm?
When you get them on your AK I will play with it. Maybe see if we can squeeze groups out better than 2 MOA?
If that attaches to the dust cover, then forget about it. I have even seen EOTECH mounts which attach to the dust cover, which provides no stability and thus no ability to zero...even for an AK.
If that somehow attaches to the rear of the weapon proper then it might be worth something, but it would be worth your time to find out before purchasing. |
Lipstick on a pig! :P
Looks like the sights slide in to the bolt-return-spring notch. Should be more stable than the wobbly dust cover.
How come simple things like a better sight take so long to incorporate into weaponry? Seems like weapons in general throughout history have always had this odd relationship with leading edge tech combined with outdated hardware.
Saw these in American Rifleman. Let us know how you do if/when you get them...
YEah let us know.
I actually use leaf sights better than peep sights. slight astigmatism. But I am always up for new AK stuff :) |
