Hello guys (and gals) well its almost time to hit the woods. The '09 turkey season is almost upon us here in Middle Tennessee and I am pumped. We've already seen some big gobblers and tons of jakes. I may not kill a bird but I'm really looking forward to getting out. Anybody else going? Please share.

Yup, I'm looking forward too it. I received a pop-up blind for Christmas and I think a couple friends are interested too.

Well looks like Candle and I are the only turkey hunters here so I'll tell ya about my opening weekends. Opening morning rain and rain and more rain so I work but Sunday was nice and saw 3 great bigguns but they were only 300 yards away and didnt want anything to do with me. Today I saw several hens but no gobblers; heard a few but no takers. Going to rain again tomorrow so hopefully sometime this upcoming week i can make contact. good luck!

my experience turkey hunting. (and oh, ive been plenty)

i walk into the woods, i sit. they gobble, i walk towards the gobbles. i see them, i send turkey load or a 5mm round their way. they die.

no fun.

...or i could just hit the fuckers with my truck. dumb, dumb animals.

Our seasons in Wisconsin start with the youth hunt this weekend. Lots of birds around, been fortunate in the past few years. I was in Tennessee two weeks ago, around Clarkesville (sp?) and despite a lot of back road driving, I only saw one hen. Are there a lot of birds there or was I assuming? My buddy is from here, lives there now, thinks we got a much larger flock here.
