They handle saltwater just fine...So long as you rinse with fresh water and oil them within a couple hours of immersion.

That rifle looks to be making a comeback in a big way, and this Marine approves.

I would gladly break every AR-15/M16/CAR16/M4 with my bare hands. And before you call BS, trust me, it's not that hard to do.
As an armchair commando I agree! Perhaps "battle rifles" are better in general than "assault rifles"!

The only actual difference between the two is caliber. And I am extremely skeptical of claims about AR's handling immersion in anything. I'm not saying its impossible from a worked over weapon, but no way thats happening in anything you pull off the rack.

I'm not an AR fan, but it's a vastly superior weapon to the Mini.

I don't know guns that well, but I was under the impression that the Mini-14 set-up was copied after the M1 and M-14 rifles. I haven't heard too many people complain about M1s or M-14s so I figured the Mini-14 would be pretty good too.

I think their complaint is in the accuracy of a mini-14 compared to an m4 or m16 which also shoot the .223. I don't see what the gripe is really considering it costs much less than AR 15/m16 type guns. I've never heard many complaints of the m1s or m14 variants either. Other than being expensive as hell.

I haven't shot either gun so I don't really know for sure, just what I've read about.

I know, and calibre makes a pretty big difference from what I hear. It's also in the style of deployment, is it not? I imagine a 7.62mm rifle would be fired almost exclusively in semi-auto whereas 5.56 would see more burst/FA fire.
