I have a personal one and we have them at work as well. I don't particularly like them. They work well, and are accurate, but they are extremely long and unwieldy. That length is unacceptable for the kind of engagements I want a combat shotgun for. They are simply too long to comfortably clear rooms.
Also, they are overly complicated, too many buttons, and whatnot. Have you tried to figure out, without instruction, how to load and chamber a round yet? It took me way to long before the light finally went on and I got it.

I don't have any personal experience w/ Benelli's. I shoot both sporting clays and skeet, and my first autoloader was a Beretta 390. I have now put thousands of rounds of ammo through this gun, and it has yet to have any malfunctions that was not a direct result of poorly reloaded ammo (such as no powder in the shell). This gun is available through Wal Mart w/ a synthetic stock, and matte finish for somewhere around $550.00. I love my Berretta. So much so that I am looking for another one in 12 ga. (mine is a 20 ga.) and with a nice wood stock.

Sorry for the delay, I've been pretty busy.
Ok, buttons: The benelli has: a bolt release, charging handle, safety, some other button to let a round pop into the receiver from the magazine, and I believe another one, though I am not positive. I don't think it is any longer than a remington 1100, but it is definately heavier, and it is at least as long as a full sized m-16. I know they are great guns, and it might fit your preferences perfectly, but I wanted to give you a heads on on why I don't like them.
