Piston Driven AR, what say you?
Well?
Yea or Nay? I dont know much about them, someone explain why they're not as accurate...are they bending the receiver ala AK? |
I think it's as simple as heavier moving parts making a gun less accurate.
|
Gas pistons are a necessity on fighting guns.
The shits-itself AR-15 is the can't-catch-up failure. AR-180 did a damn good job. Made by the same guy that made the AR. Has a piston. H&K G36 slaps the shit out of ANY AR. Just as accurate at any AR. Has a piston. ... (picks up AK47, gestures to it like Vanna White) I'll take reliability over accuracy any day. Especially in the desert. ... |
have heard from some ar guys that some of the piston uppers do not work right on certain brands- do lots of research- have no personal insight as I am an AK / sks fan- gimme a bigger round that 62 grains please......

Bushmaster just came out with a new piston upper.
I wish the H&K 416 would find itself a place in the US for civvies. |

Oh, American parts, brother... I'm not THAT hopeful. :)
The 416 and 417 REALLY turn me on. The 417 especially. Unga-BUNGA! |
The 417 does look nice now that they've got a hold open on there.
I still want a freaking paddle release for the mags tho. In addition to the usual side mounted button release would be great as well. Its a small thing to ask really. |
I can't remember the URL, but I saw a video on youtube about a piston'd AR-15. The guy was going on and on about the benefits and he proceeded to rattle off a full magazine and then handed the rifle over to some people. They remarked how cool the receiver was to the touch... and how clean the bolt carrier assembly was. I too would be interested to know how the piston uppers affect accuracy.

That would the Heckler & Koch 416 video. Or the G36 video from the late '90s.
