I Love Texas!
Texas passed an amendment to the concealed handgun law last month that will take effect Sept. 1st 2007. It is now legal to carry a handgun in your car without a concealed handgun license as long as you are legally able to own the gun and not committing a criminal offense other than a traffic violation. I have a pdf copy of the bill as written for anybody who is interested. It is House Bill #1815.
On a tangential note, is there any good place to host pdf files? |
God bless Texas.
May the rest of the US follow. |
I hope it helps to lower crime rates. I hope it stops murder.
|
It won't lower crime or stop murder, bro. Law of Conservation applies to such things, you can't create or destroy much in this universe... simply change the form.
This legislation and any pro-gun piece sin the future? They'll even the odds for those who were previously only resigned to the victim category. That is what guns do: Level the field. |
Not to worry, this isn't a gun control thread or anything. I've had dozens of discussions (read: arguments) about gun control and such on TFP.
Laws of conservation is more about physics. Crime rates can differ from place to place, and I would want to do anything I could, based on precedence, statistics, and reason, to make the world as safe as I can. Personally, I don't see how this amendment will help, but I can hope that it was the right call. |
Hahah, yeah... turns out I suck at putting the right words in the right cubbyhole in this place.
Law of Conservation is my new pet comparison medium... for the week, anyway. My attempt at being deep and meaningful when regarding subjects that are anything but... I figure a concealed weapon is a bizarre modern good luck charm... something you never have to use in your life but are always glad you have just in case. The handgun industry thrives on this notion alone. God, S&Ws Scandium revolvers are the perfect example. Lightweight and concealable to the point that you can't really shoot them that well. |
If this causes one thug to run away instead of shooting a victim then this bill is worth it

"God bless Texas.
May the rest of the US follow" Crompsin is spot on. |
*snicker*
If you want to live in a gun friendly society, you need to move to Montana. |
