I just purchased it but haven't shot it yet. My sling just arrived.

From handling it:
Pros:
-It's a bullpup with a 17" barrel that doesn't extend as far out as my AR. In theory the balance should allow for a pretty rapid mounting - we'll see.
-I slapped on an EoTech 553 and it looks like it was made for the weapon - looking more and more like the "HALO" rifle. OK. I just think it looks pretty cool.
-Accepts standard high cap-type AR mags - which saves me money right there since I've got a shitload of them already.
-forward-ejecting - kinda neat to not have brass flying out all over the place
-charging handle position - just like my FAL. Easy to manipulate without losing the firing grip.
-Lightweight balanced - would be easier to shoot with one hand than, say, my AR

Cons so far:
-Charging handle doesn't lock back with the last round. Why? I donno. I guess I have to learn how to count to 30.
-Magazines don't drop-free. Would make emergency reloads a little slower than with an AR. I wonder if I can fix this.
-Big ol magazine eject button behind the grip has a mushy action. I'll have to learn to use it effectively/quickly.
-Trigger could be better - but, then again, it could be worse.

All in all I think it's worth it. It feels very compact and handy - that's what I'm paying for. A stock AR is less but my own AR already has more than $2500 invested in it over the base weapon (not including optics).

Yeah, I mentioned the Nambu.

That thing is SO ugly and unsafe and has zero stopping power.

Hell, I'd take a Ruger Mk II over that ANY day. 100% improvement.

Raven .25s probably have more stopping power. I know they're more reliable.

I'm sure most people around here are familiar with my distain for guns, but it may surprise you that I think they're cool as hell to look at.

With an exception:
The Derringer M-1 . Ugh. I realize they're great for concealment, but they look way too much like something you get out of a Cracker Jack box to be cool. I remember an episode of Family Guy where peter writes his number on a gun, messes up, crinkles it up like a piece of paper and throws it away. All I could think was Darringer.

Suave,

Ugly, sure... but the Kriss Super V is an engineering masterpiece! Omigod, I wish we'd had that thing during WWII. Hahaha, just imagine that instead of the Thompson! WOOOO! I can't wait to see that with some good 30 round mags spitting .45 ashtrays like no tomorrow. Oh, hot-hot TEH UBERSEX action!

...

WillRavel,

It is okay to dislike guns, but its ignorance not to know how they work... which is why I loathe soccer mom types who refuse to touch them. They are just as viable as a modern tool as a screwdriver or a steering wheel. You should know how they work so you can disable them through unloading them should you find the need to do so.

...

Hey-hey. I have an American Derringer in .357 Magnum. Yikes is right.

When you pull the trigger on that thing it sounds like a hand grenade going off. If it doesn't hit 'em... it sure-as-shootin' scared the crap out of them.

My grandpa taught me when I was younger.
For anyone out there who doesn't know (making sure to keep the gun pointed in a safe direction the whole time, even if you think you know the gun isn't loaded, and keeping your damned finger off the trigger):
1) Make sure the gun isn't cocked
2) Remove the magazine (the part that holds the bullets)
3) Pull the slide (top part) back slowly and carefully and check to see if there are any cartridges (the casing of the bullet) in the chamber.
4) Remove all ammunition from the immediate surrounding area.

I'm not saying they're not useful or powerful, just that I think they're kinda ugly. Kinda like Steve Buscemi. He's got the talent, the draw, the power, but he's not much to look at.

WillRavel,

You know I'd never assume or insist that you're ignorant, bro.

All the IQ points are belong to you.

I was refer to them. (points finger to globe)

...

Hahah, I'll be honest... I had the M1, too!

It is surprisingly durable piece of solid steel. An immensely strong design for a tiny-tiny gun that is merciless to both the target and the person firing it.

In a gun fight? I'd rather have a Ruger .22 than any caliber derringer.

I´m sorry people, but there´s no such thing as an ugly gun. In fact, there´s nothing more awesome than putting guns in other stuff, like this Dagger Pistol

But we´ll save that for another thread Personally, I love the look of the FN P90 and the FAMAS. But that might be ´cuz their used in the Golden Eye and Metal Gear Solid video games, respectively

Sorry, man. I totally disagree.

Firearms are more than just function over form.

Like women.

Take the Colt Double Eagle, for example.

UGLY gun. Killed the sales. Period.

...

Metal Gear Solid is probably the best combat themed video game ever.
