If you're going to lie to bolster a gun control argument

make sure it's a really big one!!!

3 Queens men charged with possessing cop killer gun

Quote:
During the execution of a narcotics search warrant Wednesday at the apartment the men shared in Far Rockaway, police found a defaced, unloaded Fabrique Nationale Five-seveN semiautomatic handgun, the first recovery of such a weapon in the city, Brown said.

"Its presence is troubling and makes the job of street cops that much more dangerous," Brown said.

Of the 616 police officers killed nationwide between 1994 and 2003, 425 were shot with FN 5.7s, Brown said.

The FN 5.7, which comes from Belgium, has a 20-round magazine, and its bullets can penetrate 48 layers of Kevlar, the material used in bulletproof vests.
how interesting to see that 425 cops were killed with a Five-seveN when they weren't publicly available until 2004. Does that mean the cops were killing each other?

While that statistic seems like a stretch, I do want to mention that "publicly available" and "in the hands of criminals" are two totally different things. That doesn't, of course, help the argument that gun control for law-abiding citizens would do anything.

considering that the handgun was only sold to law enforcement agencies until 2004, that would have to mean that police had ALOT of guns stolen OR there's a very serious cop killer out there.

Interestingly enough, this reporter was taken to task for his reporting, who then blamed the information on the DA, who was subsequently taken to task.
The DA issued a statement backpedaling with talk about lack of information and that he would do better next time.
