Mossberg 500 vs. Remington Marine Magnum

Anyone with thoughts on which is better? I've seen many ideas on both, but I'd like to hear what YOU have to say....

Don't know much about the Remington but I know the Mossberg is cheap and that I have never had a problem with it. Also, easy barrel change is a nice feature.

They're both decent guns, really it boils down to personal preference. One is not really any better of a gun than the other.

They are both dead reliable. That being said, Remington makes the higher quality weapon. Of course you pay for it too.

Thanks guys, I was leaning to the Remington when a friend recommended the Mossberg, so I was trolling for opinions.

One operational difference to consider is that the Mossberg probably has the sliding type safety on the upper rear of the receiver vs. the pushbutton safety on the trigger guard of the 870. The Marine Magnum version is less likely to corrode if mistreated but probably stands out more in the woods if you ever plan on hunting with it.

No hunting with a shotgun...this would be a "hope I never need it gun" that I keep in the house.

If you are getting it for that have you considered some training that may be offered for technique for your own good? Also I would lean more towards the 500 my self.
