M4s are the inbred children of the AR15.

They shit on themselves when they fire.

I carried one for four years on three continents.

Fuck that thing.

...

I want me some M72A6 LAW (rocket launcher). The Norwegians (?) made that thing REALLY badass.

Pistol: 1911. Gorgeous gun in a great caliber. Perfect feel, and some of the best shooting pistols I've used.

Rifle: AK47. It has power, it has that rugged feel, and I may be in the minority here, but I also find it to be a gorgeous firearm.

S&W 4506 .45 single stack

Big hunk of steel. Solid gun.

My will to great ability to annoy the crap out of anyone with either bad jokes, goofy sounds or talking about subjects no one cares about. No wonder I have few friends.

"What are we supposed to use, man, harsh language?" - Pvt. Frost, Aliens

I really like the H&K G36K. I think that would be a mighty fine weapon for the US Army Airborne.

Ya know, instead of that joke the XM8 that we were all promised.

It's the Lindsay family Discerner on which the sword from John Boorman's Excalibur was based. It will take 16 weeks to make but this is how it looks:

[snip]

It is actually balanced and battle-ready which is why it takes so long to craft by hand. But I always wanted the Excalibur from the movie.

Okay had to drag this up again as I am completely jealous, Excalibur is my all-time favorite movie and it would be bloody awesome to have that sword. You sir are a lucky man.

I use the AR-15 to target practice in the woods on our property. Sometimes I attach a 90 round drum and blast away at stuff for fun.

The blade arrived and it feels quite solid and very well balanced. It even came fully sharpened! The blade itself is not quite as glossy as the film sword because it's based on the real Lindsay sword.

I like it.

Time to start a "Time for more sword porn" thread?

H&K MP5K PDW w/ that snazzy quick-deployment shoulder rig.

MP5K PDW rig

The perfect "night on the town" accessory for any red-blooded man.

Slims 01-10-2008 10:24 AM

It sounds wierd, but I am more accurate with a pistol than the MP5K.

Here is an old world version:)

They also offer a briefcase version which can be fired without opening the case from a trigger in the handle. Probably best to keep your finger off the trigger while carrying normally as you could shoot yourself in the calf.

My favorite pistol of all-time has got to be the M1911, hands down. There's just something about it.

As for rifles, I've always been partial to something chambered in 7.62mm:

It also doesn't hurt that I can field strip it and reassemble it with my eyes closed and can perform the entire manual of arms with it.

I wish I had the money right now to begin amassing an arsenal. Alas, I am but a poor college student.

I'm a poor college student that is somehow amassing a large collection of toys. What's your excuse? Girlfriend? Low-paying job? Social life?

Shed those things and come over to the dark side of clickety-click toys.

...

The picture you posted is of rats at VMI doing the manual of arms.

I'll assume you go there.

Really nice school.

Atreides88 01-10-2008 09:01 PM

Yes, I do. It's actually more of an issue of storage. I have no where to really keep them, and a brand new M14 runs about a grand. Not in my price range. I'm actually helping my dad restore a gun cabinet, partially so I can store a few rifles I inherited from my grandfather.

EDIT: I take it you have some familiarity with my alma mater?

Plan9 01-10-2008 09:20 PM

Yeah. I have a few friends from VMI. Best human being factory on the planet.

I hope you know you're a damn lucky guy.

...

Springfield M1As are extremely expensive but worth it. Optics mounts are insanely expensive and quality magazines will eat a hole in your credit card.

Thank you, and I do know, though it's hard to see it that way sometimes. But then again, they never promised me a rose garden.

Tell me about it. If I had my way, I'd one of the match rifles with wood stock. Probably just keep the iron sights though. I wish I could get a surplus M14 though, would be great. BTW, nice Misfits tee.

The Springfield SOCOM-16 is a great all-around piece. I was turned off by the "short barrel everything" trend at first, but after reviews and experience... thing is sweet.

Only people that mention the M249 have never had to carry or shoot one. :D Kids see it in a video game and think it's the bomb-diggity.

Despite the fact that the M249 SAW is indeed a "worthless piece of junk" over other light machine gun designs, I believe it has the highest kill rate of any US infantry weapon used during the GWoT. The torture-device twist collapse stock sucks the most, the short barrels are used all the time for no reason, and there aren't enough "nut sacks" to go around for those who need 'em.

The M240B (aka "the Pig") is a beautiful gun from a technical standpoint... but not for a grunt to carry. Zero ergonomics and 27 lbs standalone (no barrel or ammo). It's good when it's on a truck or somebody else is carrying the damn thing!

Good thing the DoD is looking into the newer lightweight model.

i like my Walther P99 QA. I was a little hesitant on getting it, because of the rep of Glock 23, Sig, and H&K. I didnt know anyone that had one, but I love it. It is extremely accurate. My friend, a better pistol shot than me, picked it up and shot a sub 6 inch grouping at 25 meters standing the first day I had it. The only thing I dont like is an actual mechanical safety on it.

Club like objects. First comes my 3' iron crowbar. After that my aluminum baseball bat. Finally, any regular wooden bat.
