Transfering PC to MAC through LAN
Hi, I was wondering if there was a FREE way to transfer files from a PC (WinXP) to my Powerbook (Mac OS X "Tiger") through LAN? I currently own a wireless hub and I was able to transfer by using CrystalFire Wormhole, but it was only a demo version. I really don't have the money to pay for the product, so do you guys know an alternate way I could do this through LAN?
I have tried the Windows Sharing way, but the file transfer speed was nothing like LAN..it was going rather slow. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? -Thanks guys! |

If you aren't happy with using SMB file sharing, you could always do something simple like setting up an FTP server on one machine, and a client on the other, and downloading through FTP. As skaven said though, you shouldn't have any speed issues through Samba.

FTP. HTTP ( webhosting ). AOL instant messenger. Basically any program that uses TCP/IP and has both a mac and windows compatible server/client or client/client.

Transfering large files wirelessly is often times very time consuming. I don't know if that's what you were doing, but if possible, hook both pc's to the router via a network cable.
