Disappearing from Network Neighborhood
Hi all
When I first fire up my computer I show up in the Network Neighborhood list but after a while (five or ten minutes or so) I just disappear from the list. All the other computers on our little home network (6 computers) remain in the Network Neighborhood list for as long as they're plugged in but mine will disappear after a while. However, I (and others) can still access my shared folders from another computer by typing \\Rlyss even if the icon doesn't show up in the list. When I don't show up in the network list I know my network card is still working as I can still surf the net, view shared folders on the other computers etc., but I just can't see my icon in the list, and nobody else can either. I checked the network card's properties and disabled the 'Turn this device off to save power' feature but it hasn't helped. I don't think it's a problem with IP addresses on our network since I've tried both my assigned address and the automatic settings. I'm running Windows XP Home, SP2 with all the updates, latest Dell drivers for my network card. No software firewall and I'm running Norton Antivirus. Cheers for any help! |
