Help me please: Screenshots of DVD

Does anybody here know how to take a screenshot of a dvd? I tried the 'prt sc' button, but then when i paste it, it just shows me a black screen, where the video is supposed to be. does anybody know how to do this?

What DVD player are you using?

PowerDVD comes with a "Capture Frame" feature that will do what you're asking.

ha, just as the email came in telling me that there was a reply to my thread, i was reading about PowerDVD's ability to take screenshots!!! Thanks anyways :)

this trick works with MediaPlayer, try it out with your DVD program.

while in DVD playback, take the cursor up to the top right of the program's window and click (and hold) on any of the three buttons (minimize, maximise or close)

with the click held, hit the PrintScreen button.

you may have to try a few times- almost always works.

*EDIT*

whoops, i failed to notice that you already solved the problem. nevermind then!

Sorry to have to throw an email at you again ARRH, but if you really want to capture a frame in Windows Media Player for some reason I think you can just turn off DirectX acceleration so the video will run in software and you can just Print-Screen it. Don't forget to turn it back on afterwards though or your games will run like shit.

Jack's on it! Its the whole DirectX/DirectShow functionality. Nice to see people have easy ways around this!

All you have to do is uncheck use overlays under the performance tab ->advanced button in the windows media player options.
