What am I missing??
Working on one of "my kids" PC, and something is not working..
It is built on an A-open box with an Intel desktop motherboard D815EEA2. 667 mh Celeron processor. 3 sticks of memory. All connections are built onto the mobo except the modem. I have tested the processor, and the memory in my backup machine....the power supply runs very quiet---the fan on the procssor--ditto. Replaced the hard drive with a known good one. The problem is NO VIDEO, and no sound. What am I missing?? Just hoping it is not the mobo....is there any way of testing it?? thanks for any help---VG |
You don't say that you have tried another monitor/cable

You don't say that you have tried another monitor/cable.
On POST do you get a single "beep"? |
Once I had this problem and it turned out the the modem was bad and would not let the system boot - not even a POST beep. Did you try removing the modem?
Hope this helps. |
modem has been removed...
no beeps when it fires up.. monitor and cable was replaced... I know this machine worked in the past... |
no beeps points to motherboard, power supply, or processer problem.
or an unconnected speaker :-) |
does the monitor work on another computer?
If so try to install a video card from another, at least long enough to see the bios settings. you also might try to reset the bios by useing the jumper re:the owners manual, or removing the battery for a while. have you used the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility? http://support.intel.com/support/mot.../cs-013041.htm the tech specs are here if you need them ftp://download.intel.com/support/mot...2/a4639902.pdf hope this helps. |
Thanks for all your help--looks like a bad mobo...VG
|
try removing and replacing components one at a time
|
Resetting the BIOS is a very good advice, maybe it has the onboard video disabled.
