Extra mouse buttons
i just got a laser intellimouse explorer and it's got the 2 side buttons that i cant seem to configure.
i go to control panel->mouse and i see no options on setting these buttons. i remember back in win 98 when i could do this, but i have xp pro now.

even without the intellipoint software, they should do forward and back in windows explorer too. at least mine do. picture/fax viewer as well - and others i'm sure
i think forward and back are the most useful anyway, and you don't need more fancy drivers installed |

Windows 2000 and XP should recognize the extra buttons by default. The IntelliPoint software will allow you to reprogram the buttons.
If you're using a KVM switch it might interfere with the buttons. I have a Logitech MX-500 connected to a KVMP (via USB) and the forward/back buttons work fine, however the two extra "scroller" buttons near the scroll wheel won't work. It's an issue with the KVMP switch.
