PC/PSP Transfer Problem

I recently downloaded a program that converts DVD's to Memory Stick Compatible files for my PSP.
But is the best way to get the files onto my memory stick?
USB? Card reader? Wi-Fi?

As far as I know the only way to transfer things to/from the PSP is through a USB cable. On the home menu go all the way left and up to USB connection and you're set.

You'll also have to make sure you have the correct folder on your memory stick, for instance if you want to put mp3s on your PSP you have to have a folder named "MUSIC" or it won't recognize the files, it'll just take up space on your memory stick. I've never put a movie on but I'm certain you'll have to make a "MOVIE" folder as well.

You shouldn't have any trouble doing it via a card reader, but I would go with a USB cable just to make sure the PSP recognizes it correctly. Like Bacchanal said, if things aren't labelled perfectly for the PSP OS, it might screw things up.

Yeah, USB is best.

And, if you're using a PC, there's a great program that automagically moves the files into the correct folders called iPSP, and I think it works perfectly.

Oh, and another thing:
If you're using a card reader, don't put your files on the card via the card reader, put the card in the PSP and let the PSP format the card, then put whatever onto the card via the card reader.

Well, if you have any other sony products, like a digicam, it might be compatable. It's a relatively universal USB plug, unlike the iPod.

Ok, I bought the USB cable, but Windows won't recognise my PSP.
It says Windows Does Not Recognise This Hardware. Is there a driver I need to download? I've googled it but can't find anything.

Thats weird, Windows recognizes mine as a PSP, mass storage device, I didnt need to install everything, is your videos service packs updated? mine are, maybe it was in a service pack update or something... cause I never need to install anything for my PSP

edit: Just thought, make sure your PSP is on USB mode.. or it wont be recognized.. just thought of that

Yeah, I do that. I plug it in, go to USB Connection on my PSP, and thats when it says Windows Does Not Recognise This Device.
It's bugging me now, I've just bought a 1GB card and I can't put anything on it!!

maybe your best bet is just to pick up a card reader, to see that its not your computer that is the problem :S

A lot of people seem to have had the same trouble as me and the problem appears to be a faulty link cable, so I'm gonna change that before I think about getting a card reader

I guess its just luck of the draw then, I have 3 cables, from my sony cybershot, one from my RCA Lyra MP3 Player, and one from a Palm Pilot, havent had a problem with any of them, and I've used them all with my PSP recently

I've been looking for a program to do that... would you mind linking it?

And from what I've heard, it's probably a problem with the cable, since it recognizes that a device is there but doesn't know what it is.

Yeah, it was the cable. It was a link cable and a charger in one, you should avoid them.
I bought a card reader and the cable that came with it fit my PSP anyway, so 2 for the proice of 1. Bonus!

pspvideo9 will automatically (nearly) take any video files you want, convert them, and transfer them to your PSP into the appropriate directories. Just google it.
