Web Surfer Looking for a Laptop for 600$
Friend of mine is looking for a laptop for general surfing the web. He wants a laptop due to hes small apartment. He wants to spend around 600$. Now It dont half to be anything special. But id like to see at least 512 ram in it and i know that will be hard to find for only 600$. But i do not think any computer should be ran with less than 512. It would be nice to be able to get it from a place that backs up there products very well.
So in short what im looking for is: Laptop with 512 Ram That is good for surfing web Good Condition Sold by a good Company

has anyone ever owned one of these?
I read threw the reviews. Seems like a nice price for a laptop. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115195 almost seems perfect for what my friend is looking for.

you don't need 500ram to surf the web.... i use an older pentium3 laptop that has about 128mb of ram and it runs rather nicely or the web... i used to run photoshop7 and Flash MX, creating large movies and photoshops on it without any problem.... i now got a pentium4 laptop with a gig of ram sitting next to, and it doesn't exactly improve web surfing... if he isn't going to game, i don't see any real need for more than 128mb of ram and a pentium3... and if he is going to game, it's best to go all the way or not at all, having a middle level machine and struggling to get tweek game proformance specs isn't that fun

You can buy a laptop that dosen't have the best hardware for cheap, and throw Mandrake (I still don't call it Mandriva) Linux on it. Mandriva is pretty user friendly, and will run better on not so good hardware. If you have to use windows, then go with Windows 2000. As far as I know 95% of programs that run in XP run in 2000, and I personally perfer it over XP.
