monitor preference?

Hey everybody, i'm hoping you guys can shed a little light for me in the area of monitors. I've decieded I'm buying a dell machine due to good experciences in the past and some good promo's right now.. anyway i've basicly got my machine picked out and configured how I want it for a reasonable price, but i'm debating over the monitor. First is size, i'm lookin at a 17, or 19in flat screen. I know bigger might be nicer, but is it really? also for my price I can get a 17" ultrasharp digital display, or for 30 bucks more, a 19" analog flat panel. I'm thinking of the 17" with digital display, but would welcome any comments between the two. Thanks again.

The thing with 19" lcd flat screens is the reso is max 1280X1024. Which if you ask me looks stupid on a 19" monitor. I would never buy a 19" LCD. Either get a 20+ lcd or a 17" lcd. If you want a 19" display id say go with a crt because you can go 1600x1200 im pretty sure on the reso.

I'd go for the 19" LCD. I'm gonna disagree with Smackre and say that 1280 on them looks just fine. Quite good, actually. I have two 19" LCDs, and I love them--huge, crisp, and don't take up any room at all.

I have a 1905FP and love it. I don't mind looking at 1280x1024 at all. I've switched to using two 2005FPWs beside each other for my main desktop and wow, just fucking WOW thats a lot of desktop space.

By all means, just get the digital whatever you get.

Me and a friend of mine got the same laptop in general. sept he bought the upgradeable screen. mine has max reso of 1440X900 and ever time i see hes laptop i tell my self i should of bought the better screen. mine works fine. looks fine and everthing. but having the higher reso makes it nicer if you ask me. unforentualy i dont think they make a 19" lcd that has a higher reso than 1280x1024 for a desktop. ive never seen one at least.. but i havent looked that hard.
