whats my wireless card doing!?!!?
i was uploading some video to my laptop off my digital camcorder and i had it left in night vision mode, i turned it on infront of laptop, looked in, and noticed some friggin bright strobing lights flashing!
the wireless card thing in the front flashes some nice infared lights from the front every five seconds, about five or soo flashes in a row, really quickly what on earth i my computer doing? :hmm: |
sounds more like an IR port than a wireless card to me. Is it kind of a smooth, very dark plastic? If so, yeah, it's the IR port and it's looking to see if there's any IR devices trying to talk to the laptop. Since nightvision mode on camcorders uses infrared, you see the flashes.

If you've got a camera try posting up a picture of what you're talking about.

That's just XP's IrEnum driver doing its thing. It's looking for IrDA devices within range. If any were found the next step would be to plug & play them into whatever services you have enabled.
You can almost always disable IrDA in the BIOS. |
yep, it's that dark red plastic thing! i just noticed today if i look directly into it i can see the flashing with my naked eye
i'm doing some research on the devices that use it and it seems quite neat |
