You need a black border around your screen. It will make the image "pop" off the wall better.
Otherwise, it looks like a good start. Some custom cabinets would be nice too but that can wait... I wish I had this kind of space in my house. |
looks pretty good! however, speaking from experience... unless you're going to use this only at night, you will need some type of black-out curtains for the windows... all that ambient light will severely wash out the picture.
what projector is that, by the way? |
Just finished my first coat of the screen Goo and already have the border painted black and ready to be put up. Just need to finish the screen.
Yes, it is pretty bad during the day for lighting. I just got the basement done so the blinds/curtains are next on the list. It will be nice and dark in there once I'm done. The projector is a Toshiba. |
When are the invites for the grand opening going out?

Did you D.I.Y.?
or P.S.T.D.I.F.Y.? (Pay Someone To Do It For You?) Either way, that's a very nice looking basement cinema you've got yourself there. I love the uplighters and spotlights in the ceiling. Nice touch. |
"When in doubt; Hire it out" That's always been my motto. To be honest with you I would have sub contracted all the trades myself. Being that my background is HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical I could find great deals on the guys. But to get other trades out in this economy was impossible. Guys would not come and do your job and risk loosing work from there regular general contractors. So guys would be quoting times that just did not work for me. Plus I could imagine the guys that could do the work, what kind of work they could do. Ended up getting two quotes and this guy was a friend of a friend etc etc. He ended up doing great work, and I would not hesitate recommending him. I might have been able to save 10k or so if I subbed it myself but I think the less hassle was worth the extra money.
Here are some screen captures taken last night (bra). I finished putting on the rest of the screen Goo paint and am now in the process of putting the border up. Next will be blinds. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...canuck/HT1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...Theatre004.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...Theatre005.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...Theatre006.jpg |
Looks good, I used to do hometheater installs for Bestbuy, and a few other's. A few clients would use a reactive paint behind the base white coat, it'd make the image sharper and more crips. Other than that it looks very good.
