free forum software
I work for the computing department here at my school and I'm working with a full time staff member to implement some kind of internal forums for our organization.
I'm trying to find some kind of free forum management system. I only know of 1 - iKonboard. Does anyone know any others? Basically, it needs to be able to be installed on a linux box (probably Mandrake). Other than that, I have no experience in setting this up on anything but a Windows box, so any other suggestions would be helpful! (such as installing database software on the box, etc). Thanks! |

Yabb forum software is free, as well as phpbb like cynthetiq mentioned. Below is a nice link from Google.

Yeah, just run a phpbb setup. There's a reason it's so bloody popular. And if you know php the customization options are practically endless, so you should have no problem setting it up to suit your needs.
EDIT - and as far as setup goes, well, it's php. So you're looking at setting up an Apache server with php implemented. If you can handle hat (and if you're getting paid as a network admin I'd assume you can) then you're set.
