Microsoft blatantly copying Ubuntu logo?
I'm sure a few people in here are familiar with the linux distro Ubuntu. You know the logo? The one with three people in a circle, holding hands? Check this out:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...TFP/ubuntu.png If it's a coincidence, it's the biggest one that I've ever seen. |
Hopefully Ubuntu has trademarked that logo.
|
It wouldn't be the first time Micro$oft stole something for themselves...
How much do you want to bet the sue Ubuntu for copying them if they didn't trademark theirs in the first place? |
Ubuntu did trademark their logo, though i'm not sure when. I'm sure that MS could slip out of any lawsuit by saying that the Ubuntu logo is too stylized to concretely represent three people in a circle. Even though I think that they've said that's what it is on their website for a long time.

They are similar but not close enough for trademark infringement.
|
::goes for the cheap shot:: Another plus for Linux? Microsoft is now using a similar style of logos.
Maybe showing a little bit of Linux supremacy. It doesn't but its a point for Linux in general. I personally fell in love with Ubuntu when I first ran it. |
I think it's a coincidence, because I don't think that Microsoft's "MSN Spaces" would gain anything by trying to take advantage of confusion with a Linux distribution.
|
Microsoft has had the little guy logo for awhile, i think it was just a take off showing more of a connection, and it just kinda happened. Like Redlemon thinks, i bet it is a coincidence as well.
|
WTF is MSN spaces and who cares about it anyway?
|
It's a type of blogging space with some special features for pictures I think.
|
if only all the software companys would start making linux friendly programs... i hate windows but gaming with linux still isnt the best idea. most games still dont make a linux version. microsoft is evil!
